20. Fun with snapchat filters

Image
My best friend and I come to Starbucks in Fondren Library every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30am after our 8am class. Today, we needed a pick-me-up because of the grey and cold weather, so we played around with snapchat filters for a good 15 minutes. Boy, does time fly when you're having fun! This was my favorite and it lifted my mood because of the pink hearts.

19. Starbucks tears

Image
I drew tears coming from starbucks face on my coffee cup today because I did one and thought it looked cool and artsy. They might as well be years of joy since she’s smiling.

18. Blog post assignment - play with yo food

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0UI2ZirnQs&feature=youtu.be (Please click the link! I was having trouble embedding the video because it was too large of a file.) I had trouble posting my video on my blog, but this is the link to where I posted it on youtube. I was at a brunch and the menu was pre-set. Our plates came out with one scoop of chicken salad with almonds, a mini muffin, slices of tomato and mozzarella cheese, and last but not least, a weird textured jiggly dessert. I thought it was the perfect thing to record for my blog post. I just love how bouncy it is.

17. Photograph

Image
Today, I have a photo assignment due by 5pm. I have a super busy day and was stressing that I wouldn't have time to take a good picture. However, I got creative and shifted my assignment to work around the topic of a barista. So, while getting my other school work done this morning, I also got my photo assignment done and I'm pretty happy about it! Killed two birds with one stone! Happy Monday.

16. Palm tree doodle

Image
Here's my doodle from class today. I've always loved drawing palm trees. This one isn't my best but it makes me happy because it feels real. Except..... where are the coconuts? I was craving my homemade coconut chips the entire class!!

15. Read. more. books. Gwen

Image
I found this quote in an article about influential people in the world. This quote struck me and inspired me to read more. Ever since coming across this quote I have been reading every single night. I told myself it doesn't matter I read, but as long as I do it I'm fine. Every night this quote beams in the back of my head and causes me to feel guilty for not reading. I love this quote and believe I came across it for a reason. I enjoy reading but definitely don't allow myself to read enough.

14. R.I.P Karl Lagerfeld

Image
I posted this on my instagram story today in honor of legend Karl Lagerfeld who passed away. What a classy legend. It looks like a video because I added gifs stickers to make my post more interesting and fun.

13. Clear the mind with folding

Image
My sweatshirts are usually the messiest part of my room. They are typically crammed up in those shelves, completely unorganized and honestly stress me out half of the time when I look at them. Today I was feeling a little off. Something was bugging me and I couldn't pin it on the head. I took this weird energy and decided now was the time to fold my sweatshirts and get creative with it. I also finally set up a "homework" area on my roommates desk since she's now abroad. I feel SO much better because of organizing all of this. The room feels lighter and more cozy. That wasn't so hard, Gwen!

12. The yellow sticky note

Image
This is my creative technique to encourage me to do blog post everyday. I keep forgetting and I don't want to get behind anymore so hopefully this will help me out!!

11. Spotify playlist

Image
I made a playlist today with some of my new fave songs. I named this playlist 'new year tho' because the songs on this album are not my typical musical genre. Making playlists is one of my most creative outlets because I love listening to music and switching up the genres of music I listen to. They all inspire me in different ways.

10. Mind Map doodle

Image
I had so much fun making my mind map. Even though I didn't get to use the big yellow ball liked I had planned, it all worked out well. This was one my my favorite doodles on the ball. I drew this to go with the word future I had on my mind map. I'm not the best at drawing but for some reason I enjoy how this doodle turned out. It makes me happy. Stick figures can be cute and creative, too!

9. Inspo doodles

Image
Never said I was the best at doodling, but this is what I created today during class while watching the ads from the presentations. I have seen those ads before, but they make me tear up every time. I had to divert my attention to my doodles to prevent tears. The thank you mom ad and dream crazy and literally two of the best ads ever, in my opinion. At first I just wrote down the name of the ads to remember to watch later and send to friends and family. Then, I started to get super inspired and all sentimental and all of these phrases and reminders and inspo sayings came to my mind, so I wrote all of them down. I loved them so much that I think I am now inspired to write them on sticky notes and dedicate one wall in my room to them. And every time I'm inspired with more little sayings or reminders/phrases I will add them to the wall as the semester goes on. There's always days when we need a good pick-me-up to look at and think about.

8. Mega bed

Image
My roommate, and best friend, spontaneously went abroad to Australia. She has always wanted to go and we talked about it a lot this summer. I didn't think she would actually do it, but she's gone. The cool part is that she is literally in the air to Australia as I type this. Since she is my best friend, being in the room without her was extremely sad and hard for the first couple of days. Seeing her empty bed across from mine brought a waterfall tears to my eyes. As I listened to people's remarks for the past couple of days, "I would be so sad always starring at an empty bed next to mine" or "are you going to buy other sheets and make the bed so it doesn't look so lonely and empty?". After some time, I used my creative juices to create the mega bed featured in the photo above. All of my friends in the house didn't think I could get the beds to move since they are SO heavy. Some people didn't even believe they moved. When my sisters visited ...

7. Pinterest for inspo

Image
I'm a big Pinterest fan. Ever since middle school I have created personal mood boards on fashion, travel, and creative ideas. Even though we're only about one month into this semester, since my roommate is literally leaving abroad for Australia today, I'm getting excited to decorate our room next year. We're living together again and my desire is to make our dorm room a place we love to come back to. I've said I would do it every year but I haven't, so next semester will be the perfect time to make this happen. I take time each day finding my favorite images of dorm rooms to give me inspiration, and it's also something great to look forward to.

6. Instagram art

Image
I follow many artistic instagram accounts because I get inspired by everything I see. I love doodling and with I was better at drawing. I saw this post today and it stood out to me because it's something I wish I could do for fun. I've always been fascinated by mirrored images and paintings like this one. They're so fun to stare at for long periods of time and just think.

5. Embrace the shake

As soon as we were asked to include a limitation about myself, over-thinking came to my head. I tend to over-think almost every situation so much, that all it does it create resistance to my creativity. Over-thinking is a horrible habit that blurs my vision and more seriously causes me to worry too much about everyday little situations. After watching the 'Embrace the shake' TED talk, I wonder what creative ways I can turn my limitation into a liberation. I challenge myself to push past this limitation and to stop over-thinking every darn thing.

4. Bedside motivation

Image
I'm a big fan of collages and fun quotes or sayings. I tend to write down quotes that stick out to me or cut them out from magazines and later type them up, print them out, and add them to my wall. This is a quote I recently found on Pinterest. I don't know what I love about it so much, but for some reason it makes me feel relived and reminds me that I'm in control of my life. I think it's the combination of words and how it makes you think about what it truly means.
