3. The random curtains

Just the other day, I went on a cleaning binge in my room. I watched one episode of 'Tidying Up With Marie Kondo' on Netflix and I was inspired. I literally went through every drawer and took everything out. Then I spent hours going through each item, speaking to them, thanking them, and perfectly folded or re-placed the item (you must watch Marie Kondo). I eventually came across these old window curtains that I used last year in my old dorm room. Unfortunately, my dorm room this year didn't allow for me to use them, so I got creative. My roommate and I live in a tiny, tiny room, so personal space is rarely a thing. I decided to hang these up to give us some desired personal space while sleeping. When I was younger, my sisters and I would make tents and this reminds me very much of that, and it is possible where the idea came from. 2. Kaya's Constellation

My roommate (and best friend) really wanted to hang her new star lights by her bed. Unfortunately, the wall space surrounding here bed isn't the best.... so I got creative and tried to make it work. Alas, here you are looking at the Kaya Constellation, created by yours truly. It's not perfect, but now we both smile and giggle when we see it and say, "look at that special constellation."

1. Self-portrait

I was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida but was raised in Nassau, Bahamas (a beautiful island that is 21 miles long and about 7 miles wide). This February, my parents will have lived in The Bahamas for 25 years. The best parts about living there is everything, and the worst part is getting such random, odd questions when explaining where I'm from to someone. I've got some weird questions over the years. One of my personal favorites is, "Are there real houses there or do you live in villas or shacks."  While I went back and forth on several ideas for my self-portrait, I thought this would be most fitting since it really does represent such a strong part of me as a person. I love my home and I'm thankful everyday for having the opportunity to grow up in such a special, unique place in the world. The Bahamas will always be the root of me.
