1. Self-portrait
I was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida but was raised in Nassau, Bahamas (a beautiful island that is 21 miles long and about 7 miles wide). This February, my parents will have lived in The Bahamas for 25 years. The best parts about living there is everything, and the worst part is getting such random, odd questions when explaining where I'm from to someone. I've got some weird questions over the years. One of my personal favorites is, "Are there real houses there or do you live in villas or shacks." While I went back and forth on several ideas for my self-portrait, I thought this would be most fitting since it really does represent such a strong part of me as a person. I love my home and I'm thankful everyday for having the opportunity to grow up in such a special, unique place in the world. The Bahamas will always be the root of me.
